Privacy Policy

How The New ABA handles your information, written in plain language.

Last updated: June 2026

Who we are

The New ABA is an independent training and resource project focused on ethical, child-centered behavioral support. For questions about this policy, contact us at hello@thenewaba.com.

What information we collect

When you join the early access list on our website, we collect:

  • Name (optional)
  • Email address
  • Your role (e.g., BCBA, parent, educator), optional, to help us send relevant updates

If you create an account in the course platform, we also collect:

  • Email address and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth)
  • Legal name, state or region, education level, and professional role (used for your Certificate of Completion and to personalize your experience)
  • Age confirmation (18+ attestation, required for BACB RBT eligibility)
  • Confidentiality agreement timestamp when you accept the course materials policy at onboarding
  • Course progress: lesson completions, quiz attempts and scores, reflection responses, module feedback surveys, and time-on-task estimates used for BACB hour accounting
  • Enrollment dates (first access, completion) for BACB pacing requirements (5-day minimum, 180-day maximum)
  • Final completion attestation when you request your certificate
  • Certificate records: legal name, completion date, curriculum version, and a unique certificate ID for verification
  • Professional credential number, if you are an assessor (required for the competency assessment feature)

Course scenarios and examples use fictional or de-identified situations. We ask learners to agree not to share course materials outside the platform.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect only to:

  • Send updates about The New ABA project, manifesto, core tenets, resources, and course availability
  • Deliver and track your learning progress in the course platform
  • Issue and verify Certificates of Completion that meet BACB 40-hour training requirements
  • Improve course content using aggregated module feedback (individual responses are visible to administrators for quality review)
  • Maintain the integrity of the competency assessment process (for assessors)
  • Comply with legal and ethical obligations

We will never sell your information or use it for advertising.

How long we keep your information

Email list data: we retain your information until you unsubscribe. We will honor unsubscribe requests promptly.

Course records: certificate and competency assessment records are subject to a 7-year retention period consistent with professional supervision and documentation standards. Other course progress data is retained while your account is active.

If you request deletion of your account, we will anonymize or delete your personal information, except where retention is required by law, BACB documentation standards, or professional ethics standards.

Who we share your information with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate this project:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file hosting for the course platform
  • Buttondown — email list hosting and delivery for project updates

Certificate verification pages display only the minimum information needed to confirm validity (name, completion date, certificate ID). We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Know what information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information (subject to retention obligations above)
  • Withdraw consent for email communications at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@thenewaba.com.

Cookies and tracking

The marketing website currently uses no tracking cookies, analytics scripts, or advertising pixels. The course platform uses session cookies required for sign-in (via Supabase Auth). If our practices change, we will update this policy and notify subscribers when signups are open.

Changes to this policy

We will post any material changes to this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. If signups are open at the time, we will also email subscribers about significant changes.
